One life, what will you do with it?

"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist that is all." - Oscar Wilde                            This quote may be really short but I feel as it holds so much meaning to it and it was one I was really able to relate to. Wilde states that really living is not something given but something that is reached. The thing that is given is the ability to exist. Wilde is trying to say that you shouldn't just go day by day in life but instead have goals and try to reach and achieve those goals. Everyone has a purpose in life but no one is given that purpose when they are born. In ones life it is their duty to pursue that purpose and uncover it as life goes on. It’s a process that I believe takes ones whole life to achieve. Wilde I think believes that you are not living unless you are living for something. Some people can make the mistake of taking their own life for granted. Those people feel as if life owes them something and will just hand everything they need to them. That is not how life works and the sooner one realizes that the better. Life isn't something that can be renewed and there are no re-do’s.  As soon as one can they must start trying to make a change in our world. Living on the sidelines won't help yourself and definitely won’t help the world. If one is unlucky enough to just exist in life then at the end of that life they may look back and see how much they missed out on in life. The beautiful part about a purpose in life is that it does not discriminate. Everyone has one but not everyone finds it. For the some that don't feel obligated to find their purpose they will just exist in life having no impact on those around him. One should have a life that would be missed by many and a life that wasn't wasted. So live every day as if it’s your last and never forget that your life does have meaning but it is up to you to find that meaning.

Pressing forward

"Throughout life people will make you mad, disrespect you and treat you bad. Let God deal with the things they do, because hate in your heart will consume you too." - Will Smith

Every time I read this quote it makes me realize that throughout the hardships you face from people, you should never let them get to you. This is one of my many favorite quotes because it tells me that I should never let anyone get to me; instead, I should keep pressing forward.

The quote originated from Will Smith, an American comedian, actor, producer, and rapper who produced these lyrics for his single called "Just the Two of Us" with Kadir Nelson. The song focused on the relationship between the father and the s
on, and how the father's reflections on his own son's life from childhood to adulthood. It addresses the many ups and downs of life.

I believe that Will Smith is trying to say that you should always be willing to forgive and move on, understand that the people who are criticizing you are the ones who usually need love the most. Even though you come upon negativity, you should keep moving forward and never let hate get the best of you.

As a person, you will eventually meet someone that will disrespect you, push you down, and treat you bad. And it may be hard to recover from the damage, but that is why this quote always motivates me to become stronger as an individual. Throughout your life you will eventually deal with people that emotionally inflict pain to you which will cause you to hate, but you shouldn't let that hate consume you as well instead you should move on with your life and let God deal with the things they've done. This quote I think can really help someone that is frustrated with everything. Though it may be hard at first, I think that people who are able to follow this quote will become a stronger as a person. I think that everyone should consider listening to this quote because it can actually make a difference when you're in trouble. You should keep pressing forward, and never let hate enter your thoughts.

Moments in life

"Life isn't measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."

I have always loved this quote because I feel that it's saying to not take life for granted and make everyday the best that you can. There are so many people that take their life and what they have for granted and don't realize what they have until it's gone. Why dedicate our time planning out our future setting up every step when we can have our future made for us?  Often times we focus too much on "making the best of every moment," when in reality, the moments that take our breaths away happen naturally. We may see each day we live as an obstacle we wish we didn't have to deal with, but when time progresses and we take a step back and look at what we are lucky enough to have, we finally realize the beauty of each moment we experience. A lot of people don't think about how much more they have than other people do, roofs over their head, warm clothes, food, family, etc. you never really think that it could be taken away just like that when you aren't expecting it. When we take our life for granted, we fail to see the significance we experience in life. Life happens quickly; with every breath another moment passes. Life shouldn't be measured by the years lived because when we grow old we will not look back on how many years we have lived we will only remember the memories we have made.

Kurdt

"If you die you're completely happy and your soul somewhere lives on. I'm not afraid of dying. Total peace after death, becoming someone else is the best hope I've got"
-Kurt Cobain

One of my favorite musicians of all time is Kurt Cobain. Nirvana was one of the best bands ever and mainly for the reason that Kurt was lead singer and guitarist. The way he would yell and shriek into the microphone, it was bone-chilling. And he was a great guitarist, with Krist Novoselic on bass and Dave Grohl on drums, Kurt was the only guitarist. Nirvana became very popular in the 90's and Kurt Cobain was not prepared for the attention and fame he was to recieve. He fell into a deep heroine addiction later in his music career and battled many personal demons.

Kurt Cobain led a sad and dark life filled with illness beginning at a young age, depression, and a bad drug addiction. Everything showed through his music, and that is one of the things that makes him so great. He had many problems, those which finally caused him to take his own life at the young age of 27 (the age at which many other artists died. Notoriously known as the 27 club: Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and there are many others........sketchy). Kurt had become weary of the popularity he received from the public, as he describes in his suicide note ------> http://www.phrases.org.uk/quotes/last-words/kurt-cobain.html

This quote from Kurt reveals a lot about himself and is kind of spooky, knowing what was soon to come. He talks about being happy and finally attaining peace once you die. There's a lot of people who go through some fucked up shit in life, and suicide is an escape. Kurt could not overcome his own personal demons, and they finally led him to shoot his own brains out. The pain was no more.
I also like this quote because he touches on a central ideal of Buddhism. That is, your soul will live on and one day be reincarnated. Kurt says "becoming someone else is the best hope I've got" and "your soul somewhere lives on."
Kurt Cobain was a man with many problems and personal issues but he sure could rock out. He lives on and is remembered as one of the best musicians ever and he will never be forgotten. He was a one of a kind, there will never be anyone else like him.
R.I.P. Kurt Cobain

Tattoos

"My body is my journal, and my tattoos are my story"
-Johnny Depp

I got my first tattoo when I was sixteen years old. Yeah, I know. You're too young. You're going to regret it. How's it gonna look in thirty years? I've heard it all before, hundreds of times. But at sixteen, I knew exactly what I wanted, had wanted it for nearly two years, and I had the money to get it. Nothing was going to stop me. I had spent a while thinking about my first tattoo. I wanted it to be meaningful and I wanted it to be small. If my mom knew about it, she would have killed me and I was not about to die over some ink.
I talked my cousin into driving me to the guy's house and honestly, it went way better than I would have expected. We met the guy, John, at his current residence which ended up being a motel but I didn't question it. See, John was an O.G. and I was not about to offend this guy or make it awkward. We went up to his room, which was more of a suite so it wasn't too bad, and John started drawing my tattoo out for me.
"Why a dove?"
In my search for the perfect tattoo, I looked at different animals, meanings, and other people's tattoos for some type in inspiration. Coming across the dove completely by accident, it ended up being exactly what I wanted. The dove is a symbol for peace and that's exactly what I needed in my life. After going through a rough few years filled with anger, disappointment, anxiety, depression, and hate, I was ready to let it all go. I was finally going to be at peace with everything in my life and stop worrying so damn much. I'm young and I plan on enjoying my youth to it's fullest extent.
Getting the actual work done was terrifying. I was still recovering from a nasty cold so I was hopped on so much medication to keep myself from sneezing or coughing, and I was exhausted. Plus, I didn't know how much it was going to hurt. I knew that it couldn't be too bad since I got it a little to the right and slightly below my left hip bone, that meaty area, but it was still going to hurt.

In the end, it only hurt for about half of the tattoo and then it was more is an annoying pinch as he finished it up. I paid my $40 and voila, I had my first tattoo.
Fast forward two years and I'm getting a phone call from my friend to come with her to the tattoo expo that was at Cow Palace. The tattoos wouldn't be too expensive and it was highly unlikely for them to actually card me (I still haven't gotten my ID), so I was more than down. This time, I wanted a quote and I wanted it on my ribs.
Let me begin by saying that if you plan on getting a rib tattoo... prepare yourself. I've been through a lot of painful things but nothing hurts quite like that, especially if you're bony like me. I could practically feel the needle etching the quote into my bones and man, that hurt so much. But at the same time, it was addictive. It's a pain that you crave right after and I'm honestly ready for more and more tattoos.
I had decided on a quote from my favorite poem by Marianne Williamson called Our Deepest Fear. The line reads "Your playing small does not serve the world." Something about this line always stood out to me and after thinking about it for a long time, I understood it a lot better. It was a constant reminder for me to be my best no matter what and not to downplay my accomplishments. It was a reminder to be proud of myself, to improve myself, and to inspire people around me to be the greatest that they can be. Being someone who has had a lot of self esteem issues, getting this tattoo was like that final step in learning to love myself, as dorky as that sounds.
It was hard for me to get to such a good place in my life. It hurt like hell and I guess my tattoos are a symbol for that pain, as well as the good that came from that pain. I'm nothing without my struggle, and my tattoos wouldn't be here without the pain of a needle going in and out of my flesh rapidly for 30+ minutes. Tattoos have become a huge part of my life and I plan on getting many, many more as I get older, experience more, and have the funds to do so.

All you have to do is TRY.

"I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times, I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." - Michael Jordan

Michael Jeffrey Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time, the reason not because he was born gifted, but because he worked hard his whole life and never gave up. During his High School years of playing basketball his true potential was only yet to be seen. He tried out for the Varsity basketball team but was denied because he was "too short" to play. Nevertheless he succeeded in leading the Junior Varsity team to victory tallying some 40 point games. It didn't end there, Jordan trained rigorously and was determined to make the Varsity team. The last two seasons of his High School Career he made it on the roster for Varsity and averaged 20 points per game. He eventually was drafted into the NBA where he was crowned MVP five times and won countless awards.

The reason I chose this quote is because I could relate this to so many people who have just given up all hope and stopped trying. This was very inspirational to me and has molded my mindset throughout life. To this day I've always been told that, even when life gets hard or things are just too difficult is that a good enough reason to give up? That just shows me that people are afraid of failure more than they are passionate about success. Which is why I live my life everyday doing the best that I could do and always finishing what I start, no matter the outcome. I must take responsibilities for my actions and stand firm in what I believe in, in everything that I do. There is nothing in the world that I can't handle, it is whether I have the will to try.

This goes to show that even the Greatest Basketball player of all time had to work hard for what he wanted. Nothing ever comes easy in life, everything comes at a price. Even when life is at its hardest and things just seem absolutely impossible, that is no reason to give up. What good comes out of giving up? Giving up should never be an option, because that is like not even trying. Even if you fail at something, but you never give up, you can be proud to say that you at least tried. So think about this as you go about life; choices happen within seconds, results last a lifetime.

Remember to keep your head held high and keep walking.

No matter what happens, I’ll keep on moving. Until this life runs out of me, I’ll keep on walking.-Allen Walker (D.Gray-man)

Whenever I read this quote it always make me think of the advice I would give someone who is feeling down or just needed someone to talk to. This is one of my favorite quotes and it reminds me to listen to my own advice sometimes.

It's actually from an anime called D. Gray-man. The main character, Allen Walker, a young Exorcist with a cursed eye that can see the suffering of the Akumas. Along with his team, he travels the world fighting Akuma and searching for Innocence, the Anti-Akuma weapon exorcists use.

I've always been a very optimistic person and never really understood why people dwell on so much that's already in the past.. Whether the incident was bad or good, always remember to keep your head held high and to keep on going. Learn to move on and just learn from what already happen. This quote I think  really represents my attitude to almost everything in my life. I think that everyone should go by this motto and just keep moving on.  Also, if you are a person who can keep walking, you are a very strong person. Strong enough to be the bigger person and not give in to any negative people. For example, High school kids and high school drama. I was never one for drama and never found it entertaining either. When people had issues I would always wonder why they let people get to them, or let what they say bother them. If it isn't true, don't react, just keep walking. Because in the end, others will eventually forget or not even care about what was said as long as you don't add any fuel to the fire. Think of it as a good thing, because to some, you are the center of attention at the moment, and who doesn't love that? However, whichever way you choose to go about issues that you have in life, always be up for a challenge and in the end be happy with the results and just move on. What's done is done and there's no reason to hold on to it.
