"True friends stab you in the front" -Oscar Wilde
Friends.
Friendship is a bond, a symbiotic relationship, a burden , a blessing and a friend is reflection of yourself.
A friend that "keeps the peace" is just that, a friend in, my book.
A friend that will tell you the truth no matter how it affects you, is a best friend.
Best friends make you think, challenge you, laugh with and at you, and knows when to take you seriously.
The whole "brutally honest" thing might sound unpleasant,
but
I found that my most honest friends are the ones I learn the most from, I even learn more about myself through their honesty.
Say, you`re in a relationship with someone who just isn`t right for you
A friend will say "you guys are cute together" and when you break up will say "I knew he was trouble from the start!"
A best friend would say, from the beginning, "I don`t like him, I would be careful. He doesn`t seem like your type."
Best friends plant the seed to get you thinking.
Basically, best friends are ninjas that plant thoughts in you mind without you noticing.
The point of all of this is this:
I`d rather have a friend that stabs me in the front than
someone who lets me stab myself when the pain could have been avoided.
Okay... I may have been a bit rude in my comment on the other post by you. I see that you did two know and I apologize for the other comment. I thought that that post was the quote interpretation. Instead it was a supplementary thing instead of the main thing. I like your quote. It reminds me of a more general idea which pertains. I thought about having a friend stab me in the front rather than in the back. In that way, they hurt me with respect to me, instead of hurting me by outright betrayal. For example, I'd rather have my friend tell me if they were going to ask my ex out, instead of them asking my ex out without telling me when I was holding on to whatever remaining feelings were there only to find out later and feel cheated or betrayed... Anyway, its late and I want to wrap this up with a "thank you."
